Teachers are especially needed in grade 7, which meets twice a month on Tuesday and the Confirmation Program which meets twice a month on Monday. Will you be the one to answer the call? If so please contact Phyllis (272-5777).

Catholic Men's Conference. This conference in 2008 was a stirring experience of faith that left no one disappointed. The Conference this year promises to be every bit as exciting, and more so. This year's Conference will be held October 3rd at the Chevorlet Theatre (Oakdale) in Wallingford. Save the date and plan to attend. More information to come.

There will be No Daily Mass during the weeks of Aug. 17, 24 and 31 while Fr. Gene is on vacation. Please check the times of daily Masses at our neighboring parishes. Sunday Masses will be as usual with visiting priests.

Family Perspective Jesus tell us in today's gospel to “stop complaining among yourselves.” Family conflict is inevitable but constant whining destroys relationships. We may feel better, but others feel bitter. Address differences honestly and respectfully. Don't make them personal attacks.

Seminarian Sightings: Our lives are filled with change. We mark the different periods of our life by things such as events, jobs, and location. Yet what makes the biggest impact on any part of our lives after God, is the people. I want to thank Fr. Charman and all the people of St. Thomas Becket for the impact each of you has had on me this summer. Many thanks. M. David Dawson

Stewardship. The gifts of God that the angel brought Elijah - food, water, rest, and encouragement - were given, not for his own good alone, but to strengthen him for service. How am I using my gifts to serve others?
