Cheshire Interfaith Housing, a non-profit organization with a mission “to provide affordable housing within the Town of Cheshire to individuals or families in need” is looking for volunteers both skilled and unskilled to assist in the home renovation right here in our parish neighborhood. Help is needed M-F, and Sat. 9-2pm. Please contact Sue at 203-272-1375 or Don at 203-272-2404, our CIH representatives. Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet on Friday, August 6th in the Parish Center.

Women's Club. Save the date! Join us on August 25 from 5-7 PM for an end-of-summer family evening at Jump Zone on Lakewood Road in Waterbury. The twelve bounce houses are designed for children ages 4-12; children must wear socks and be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $10 per child; adults enter free. A portion of each admission fee will benefit the Women's Club. For more information call Marie Slue (203) 699-9169. Come with your neighbors and friends and have fun!

Family Perspective. We pay a dear price trying to possess the biggest, best, fastest and latest. Satisfaction will never be spelled with LETTERS (SUV, DVD, IRA, and IPOD) but rather by the WORD of God in today's gospel: “Be on your guard against all greed.” Happiness comes from those we love and who love us and not from gadgets because we are more than consumers.

Stewardship. Friday, August 6th is the Feast of the Transfiguration. Seeing Jesus transfigured made Peter want to do something to mark the event. But the voice from the cloud said clearly that the first task of those who recognize Jesus as Lord is to listen to Jesus - and then act!
