First Communion Class

Thank You Note: A special word of thanks to Phyllis McNeil, our Religious Formation
Coordinator, second grade teachers and all who worked to make our Pentecost / First Communion / Mother's Day celebration so special. Our thanks also to Mike & Jay Cunningham for a great outing at Holiday Hill.

Archbishop's Annual Appeal: This weekend is Commitment Weekend! All parishioners now have an opportunity, if they have not already done so, to make a pledge to the 2008 Annual Appeal. Materials are available on the yellow table in the vestibule.

Youth Group will meet today, Sunday, May 18th for a Bunco party in the Parish Center at 6:30 PM.

Golden Age Social: All seniors are invited to an afternoon of cards, bingo and refreshments today, Sunday from 12:30 to 2:30 PM in the Parish Center.

Congratulations to Father Frisbie on his 60th Anniversary of Ordination. If you would like to send Father a card, address it to St. Thomas Seminary, 467 Bloomfield Ave., Bloomfield, CT 06002. (Health update – as you may have heard Father was in the hospital last week. He is now recuperating at a rehabilitation facility in West Hartford.).

Stewardship: The Gospel today is sometimes called “the Gospel in miniature” because it so concisely sums up the whole Gospel message. In even more condensed form, “God loved...God gave...” it is the paradigm for stewardship – we give because we love.

Family Perspective: Today's gospel teaches “love” is the result of our “giving.” The selfless giving of spouses, parents and children for one another is not only the sign of a happy and holy family. Selfless giving is the gift and the challenge of family life.

Mary - Month of May. Prayer petitions are on the table next to the banner honoring Mary for the month of May.
