Archbishop's Annual Appeal: This year's theme: Sharing God's Gifts, calls us to to join together as one Catholic family to help the neediest among us. Our Annual Appeal donation is one way we can Share God's Gifts with our neighbors. Our financial gifts to the Appeal truly benefit everyone in the Catholic community around the three counties of Hartford, Litchfield, and New Haven. If you have already made your gift or pledge to this year's Appeal – thank you! If you haven't done so yet, your help is still very much needed. Pledge cards and envelopes are available in the vestibule. Please participate in the Appeal to the best of your ability.

Family Perspective: In today’s gospel the disciples were returning home so “downcast” they did not recognize Jesus walking with them. In our homes we can also be so overwhelmed we don’t see God with us. Today’s gospel tells us to stop each day and open our eyes to the blessings we are to one another in our families.

Stewardship: The disciples on the road to Emmaus walked and talked with Jesus all day long, but it was not until they offered him hospitality, and he blessed and broke the bread, that they recognized him. Simple acts of loving kindness still reveal the presence of God in our midst.

Fr. Stan Kennedy: Adult Formation: On four consecutive Wednesdays, April 23 through May 14, you are invited to participate in a series of adult learning sessions to be held in our Parish Center from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Topic: What Makes a Catholic a Catholic?. According to Thomas Groome, whose book "What Makes Us Catholic" will be used during the sessions, Catholics share certain vital features of life and identity. Being an expert on the essential ingredients of Catholic Christianity, Groome explains and illuminates that character and invites Catholics of all kinds to connect more deeply and imaginatively with their own culture and spirituality. The sessions should be beneficial both for Catholics well rooted in the practice of the faith as well as those who are new to the faith and interested in deepening their understanding of what it means to be Catholic. The format will include some home reading, Fr. Stan's presentation, and discussion with Q&A at the evening sessions. Sign up in the vestibule or call the office by April 14thso books can be ordered. (Open to other parishes as well.)
